Vos and Wiebes aren't hunting green ... at least so they say

Vos and Wiebes aren't hunting green ... at least so they say

Both riders are actively chasing intermediate points, but mostly so the other doesn't walk away with them.

Vos wasn't even close to besting Wiebes on the line at the finish of stage 3.

The way that Marianne Vos and Lorena Wiebes are actively trying to pick up sprint points at the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift – even with four-rider-moves up the road – would indicate they were both interested in taking home the green jersey. Neither rider has said that it's a goal, but apparently, neither is interested in the other gaining easy points either.

After Monday's third stage, Wiebes (SD Worx-Protime) leads the fight, 130 to Vos's 112. Vos (Visma-Lease a Bike) probably won't have too many complaints as she will line up for Tuesday's fourth stage in the leader's jersey. Her run in yellow won't last until Sunday, however, and another green jersey to add to her collection sounds like a nice tradeoff.

The list of top sprinters who lined up for this Tour de France Femmes was impressive. We got Wiebes and Vos, but also PicNic-PostNL's Charlotte Kool, winner of the first two stages of the Tour in 2024, and Elisa Balsamo of Lidl-Trek, the only rider to come close to Wiebes this season. Unfortunately, three stages in the fight for green is between two riders. Kool left the race before the start of stage 2, and Balsamo was part of a mass pileup going into the finale of stage 3.

As the reduced peloton approached the stage 3 finish, it would be between Wiebes and Vos, and as she had so many times this season, it was Wiebes who took it. Now in green, Wiebes was happy with how the day went, but after the race, she wouldn't admit that the jersey was on her mind.
