No Giro and no Flanders for Evenepoel after all

No Giro and no Flanders for Evenepoel after all

Red Bull emphasizes plans for shared Tour leadership between Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz.

A few weeks after Het Laatste Nieuws reported that Remco Evenepoel was expecting to take on either the Giro d'Italia or a beefed-up Classics campaign in 2026, Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe has unveiled the highlights of the Olympic champion's calendar for next year.

As it turns out, Evenepoel won't be tackling either the Giro or Milan-San Remo and the Tour of Flanders in his first season with Red Bull. His buildup to the Tour de France will instead feature smaller stage races and the Ardennes Classics, just as it has the past two years.

In the end, rider and team have opted for continuity rather than shaking things up. At Red Bull's media day on Wednesday, Evenepoel said that he wants "a normal season" as he moves to a new team and after an injury last offseason complicated the subsequent season. Evidently, normalcy means no Giro and no run at the cobbles.
