Mid South, widely regarded as the season opener for the US gravel calendar, delivered a dramatic finish in both the men's and women's races.
Cobe Freeburn took the win in the men's race after a three-way sprint finish, crossing the line in 4:31:54 alongside Cameron Jones. Michael Garrison came in just three seconds back in third at 4:31:57. The men averaged 23 mph on the day.
Sofia Gomez Villafane claimed the women's title in 5:18:44, with Geerike Schreurs taking second in the same time. Cecily Decker rounded out the podium in third despite a mechanical issue roughly six miles from the finish, which forced her to stop to straighten her wheel. She still managed to chase back onto the lead group, finishing at 5:18:44.
