The Actofive I-Train 32 is a 32-inch trail bike

A first in the evolution of 32" wheel mountain bikes.

Actofive

Dresden, Germany-based boutique bike manufacturer Actofive is introducing its newest model, the I-Train 32, which it claims is the world's first 32-inch full-suspension trail bike. Designed and manufactured to the same parameters as its current 29-inch I-TRAIN, the 32-inch version features geometry tailored to the emergent wheel size with a range of travel options, from 120 mm to 140 mm (front and rear).

Unlike larger brands that require years of development, planning, and custom machinery to produce new bike models, small brands like Actofive can pivot relatively quickly to tackle new projects. "The entire development and construction time for the 32-inch I-TRAIN took about 1.5 months," according to Simon Metzner, Actofive Founder and CEO, in a press release about the project.

Ready or not, 32” wheels for mountain bikes are coming
Brands have played with the larger wheel size for years, but the first dedicated XC tire from Maxxis opens up new horizons.

Small-scale CNC manufacturing

Actofive frames are made on demand from two half shells, each CNC-machined from a solid block of 7075-T6 aluminum, and then sandwiched and bonded together. For the new 32" version of the I-Train, the frame required longer seatstays to fit the taller wheel and tire, for which Actofive developed new jigs and machine programming.
