After years of close calls, Wout van Aert has finally done it. The 31-year-old Belgian is a Paris-Roubaix winner at last.

Van Aert survived a grueling day that saw mechanical woes befall practically every favorite, himself included, to battle Tadej Pogačar mano a mano in the finale. In front of the raucous crowd of the Roubaix velodrome, Van Aert proved quickest in the sprint to the line. He let the tears of joy flow freely after the long-awaited win in what was the fastest ever edition of Paris-Roubaix.
